Several folks around here are preparing for Spring Turkey season. At least three of them have never gone before! What fun!
I brought in a bag load of turkey loot from years past to share with these new hunters. A Primos "Truth" disc for a few hours of fun while pouring over the other accouterments I brought in, like box calls, slate calls, diaphragm calls, decoys, clothes, gloves, hats, headnets, vests, packs, face paint, and choke tubes.
Here's a Riflescope Blog from a couple of years ago:
Why Poontang, Gobblers, and Dogs Don't Mix.
It was a successful hunt, but maybe not so much in the traditional sense of success. Any weekend with My Shirley is great, and although Rad is gone now, we have three other beasts that fill in for him.
People still wonder what that guy in the car next to them is listening to when I exersise with my diaphragm calls. To some, it's quite normal. And a great time to practice. Hope you'll be going out for gobblers this year, and good luck!
