>Sportsman Surgery

Steven K. Ledin,

Here’s a reprint from a couple years ago:

My favorite spring piston airgun is a Beeman R-1 anniversary model in .20 caliber. It has an ivory grip cap and used to wear an older Leupold 3-9 EFR without click adjustments (current scopes have clicks). The scope had my name engraved on it from the Leupold Custom Shop, and it was perfect and sexy and sighted in with Crosman Premiers at 25 yards.

I now shoot this rifle at three different distances, and wanted a scope with click adjustments and target turrets. I installed a Bushnell Sportsman 3-9 AO in …

>The Amazing Jonathan and the South African Gas Station Meat Pie Adventure

Steven K. Ledin, >The Amazing Jonathan and the South African Gas Station Meat Pie Adventure

Some people just have guts. Jonathan is one of them.

We left our hunting lodge for a 5 hour trip to the Johannesburg, South Africa airport for the trip home after a long and draining safari. We were all exhausted. The van was crowded but reasonably unstinky even though crammed with hunters recently released from the wilds of the bush. Hygiene does not always take priority. >Red Dot Shapes

Steven K. Ledin, >Red Dot Shapes

One of the biggest reasons that people return red dot sights is because the dot is not perfectly round, or there is some glare around the inside of the tube. I have news for you. Steven K. Ledin, >Holsters 101 Featuring Bianchi, Blackhawk, Fobus, Galco, Etc.

Last training class was Holsters 101. I spoke about construction and materials, applications, real world daily carry, and my favorites. I started the class wearing an Uncle Mikes Bandolier with a scoped Freedom Arms in it over a Galco Miami Classic with a Glock. Inside my 5.11 tactical shirt was a Star PD. My ankle held a Kel-Tec in an Uncle Mike’s rig. On my belt was a Galco Phoenix Crossdraw with a model 10 in it, next to a left hand Blackhawk Serpa with another Glock, then a Galco SOB with another Glock, then

8 AM. I’m leaving today from gate L-9. Airport’s not too busy. Guns got checked in okay. TSA had a tough time closing my gun case and a few items came out. Of course they wouldn’t let me help put it back together. Altogether it went well for Chicago O’Hare.

Flew to Atlanta fine. Transferred to another flight and then on to Dakar, Senegal, a 9 hour flight across the Atlantic. Felt like it. At Dakar a bunch of security people came on and sprayed disinfectant and checked every chair and bag for …
